The common larvae overwinter at the base of the trunk or in the xylem of the taprootax, and pupate in the spring of the next year. The adults mostly appear from late April to early May, and the eclorescence period is from May to June. Most longicorn eggs are produced in the base of the trunk within 5 cm from the ground, and a few can be as high as 30 ~ 60 cm. The eggs can be seen in the field from May to early August, and the peak period of spawning is from the end of May to the middle of June. After longicorn eggs hatch into larvae, they mainly damage the base and taproot of adult tree trunk. There is insect dung outside the cavity, which often causes the death of large cortex, resulting in yellow leaves and falling off, and even the death of the whole tree in serious cases.
